Job of the Month
CMG Rescue Services gets involved with a wide range of roadside assistance and recovery activities. Each month we feature a recent job to illustrate the type and variety of the work we do.

At 12.35 one Tuesday lunchtime we received a call from Northamptonshire Police requesting us to attend and assess an incident on the A428 Bedford Road, Northampton involving two Lorries and a car. An incident manager was duly detailed to attend the scene and meet with Police Collision Investigators. Our Incident Manager was confronted with a dustcart with the offside heavily damaged and an articulated lorry which following impact with the dustcart had veered across the road and travelled straight through the railing with the cab falling into the Grand Union canal in a jack knifed position with the trailer tangled between the railings.
Following the initial assessment a briefing was called with the Fire & Rescue Service, Council officials and the Environmental Agency with each department briefed on the planned recovery process. A specialist underwater rescue team were called in to attach all of the necessary equipment to the casualty. A local crane hire firm were call in to assist with the lifting operation as we had to lift from beyond the bridge structure. One of the main concerns throughout the whole operation was to ensure that no further pollution of the waterways with potential huge clean up costs and wildlife concerns.

Once both the mobile crane and our recovery units were rigged a controlled lifting operation commenced bringing the complete unit and trailer combination up over the bridge side and back onto the roadside. The vehicle was de-rigged and towed back to our premises for further Police investigation.
Another excellent job by CMG all in a day’s work for the team and a big thank you to NMT Plant and Frank Ratcliffe & Sons for their assistance.
Local company, national success
